Winter 2023
“A House Built on Hope”

Dear Supporters, Friends, and Caring Hearts,

It’s often said that when hope is lost, tragedy isn’t far behind. Just as someone lost at sea may begin to lose the will to survive once they give up hope of rescue, those caught in addiction and despair may begin to sink—unless someone reaches out a hand.

As we enter 2023, we want to share what’s been happening behind the scenes at Harris Family Ministries (HFM). We’ve been working diligently to secure a permanent home for the House of Restoration, a place of healing for mothers battling addiction and their children.

Because we are a faith-based organization, accessing traditional grant funding has proven challenging. And while we could open our doors with the limited resources we have, we are prayerfully committed to sustainability. We cannot bear to offer hope to struggling mothers, only to shut our doors a few months later when funds run dry. That would be devastating to them—and to the children whose futures are at stake.

To ensure long-term stability, we are reaching out to churches—both local and beyond—as well as individuals who feel called to support this life-saving mission. Your help can allow us to fully launch and sustain this home where families can heal, grow, and thrive in a Christ-centered environment.

As many of you know, we previously operated out of my own home for three years and celebrated the graduation of a mother who is now thriving. While some may see one success story as too few, I see a soul saved, a family restored, and a child given a chance at a better future. I speak not only as a ministry leader but also as a grieving mother who lost a son to addiction. I know the pain this crisis brings—and my heart breaks for every family enduring the same.

The true victims are often the children—raised in chaos, confusion, and trauma. Whether in homes with one or both parents struggling with addiction, these children are growing up with wounds that may follow them into adulthood. We must interrupt the cycle.

Since the pandemic, the addiction crisis has worsened. Every day, thousands of lives are lost, leaving behind grieving families, children being raised by single parents, grandparents, or in the foster care system.

Right now, we are close to obtaining a property that could become the permanent House of Restoration, but we lack the funding to secure it and sustain it long term. While all of us currently volunteer our time and talents, opening the home will require hiring at least three staff members to ensure safe, stable operations.

We are asking—please help us help them.

Together, we can offer lasting change, restoration, and the hope of a new beginning.

With gratitude and in service to the King,
Rev. Georgiana C. Harris
