GUARD YOUR HEART

Updated: Apr 4, 2023

Ps 37: 4 Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

5 Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

Ps 73:26 26 My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.

Phil 4: 6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Prov. 4: 20 My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.

21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.

22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

It is so very important that we guard our hearts, I say this with all sincerity. It is so easy for us to get of course when things don’t go as we think they should or when someone does or says something that hurts us. Especially if it’s someone we are or have been trying to help.

That is walking in the flesh, we can’t afford to do that.

Jeremiah 17: 9 & 10 says: The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

The Lord does know our hearts. No matter how sweet we appear on the outside God knows the inside. He knows our heart as my son used to say there’s no future in frontin’ just be real.

Let’s examine the scriptures I just read Psalm 37:4 & 5 says if we delight ourselves in the Lord He will give us the desires of our heart that comes with a condition commitment and trust. Commitment means to be dedicated to. If we are committed we can expect blessings but if we are half stepping…you’re only giving ½ which amounts to nothing. I we want to have a relationship with God we have to give 100%of our trust and commitment.

In Psalm 73: 23 Tells us our flesh and our hearts will fail if we try to say I can do this on my own. We get our strength from God and He never fails us. Commitment & trust!

John 14: 27 & 28 is talking about the peace He gives us. In todays world so many are so stressed filled with anxiety, suicidal and anger. He has already given us His peace and gone to prepare a place or us with the father, again this is commitment & trust if we are committed to God and trust Him these things affect us differently. He said he went to prepare a place for us. Just take Him at His word. Jesus tells us His Father is greater than He is. Now that’s some kind of great!

Phil 4: 6 & 7 It says BE CAREFUL FOR NOTHING but earnestly seeking God for something with THANKSGIVING. If you are asking with thanksgiving you are trusting that He will answer you and you are trusting him to do it. That can only come with relationship. He will give us His peace and our minds can focus on Him. Not our peace which can be whisked away by the 6 o’clock news but His peace which will stand forever.

In Prov. 4:20 -23 this mother is telling her son to listen and hear what I am saying. These words are life, don’t let them depart from your heart, be diligent about it.

Our relationship with Christ is vital to life. We are just visitors here. One day we will all close our eyes in death from this side but it is actually the beginning of life.

Do we have to be perfect here? The answer is a simple NO simply because we can’t be since the garden and again after the flood man is a mess and we can’t make it without being committed and full of trust for God while we are here. This is another point about guarding your heart don’t let anyone or anything separate you from the love of God.

When the president travels there are guards (secret service) all around him to keep any enemy from harming him. That’s how we need to guard our hearts.

How do we do that? Read the word be mindful of your surroundings.

We can’t always control what others do in our presence but we can control if we stay or leave those places.

Always guard your heart keep your mind focused on things of God.

Remember what Jeremiah said; The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked:

If you feel that you need to have a heart change just ask Him and he will do it if you are sincere,

Sing Change my heart Oh God.

Lord give me the strength to sing it to your Glory!! PLEASE
